Does the table of contents still work?
Yes — contents entries, cross-references and footnote links are carried across as real PDF links that jump to the right page, and the chapter headings become the PDF's sidebar bookmark outline.
Does it keep the book's design?
Yes. The book's own stylesheets and embedded fonts are applied, so the PDF reads like the book — not like a stripped text dump.
Is my book uploaded?
The EPUB is unpacked and assembled in your browser; the assembled book is then sent to the rendering engine over an encrypted connection, converted, and deleted the moment your PDF is made. If the engine is ever unreachable, everything happens in your browser instead and the tool tells you so.
Can it convert a book from my ebook store?
Only if the file is not DRM-protected. Books bought from most stores are encrypted, and no converter can open them — that is the point of the protection.
Why is a PDF bigger than the EPUB?
An EPUB reflows to whatever screen it is on and stores only the text; a PDF fixes every line in place on a page. That is the trade: fixed layout for reflowable convenience.
What about MOBI and AZW3?
Those are coming with the document phase. EPUB is the open standard and the one most books convert to cleanly.
Good to know: DRM-protected books cannot be opened by any tool. If the rendering engine is unreachable, the browser fallback keeps chapters, text and images but drops the book's stylesheet and link navigation.
