Frequently asked questions
Can it convert a book I bought on Kindle?
Only if the file is not DRM-protected. Books downloaded from the Kindle store are encrypted, and no converter can open them — that is what the protection is for. The tool recognises a protected book and says so instead of producing pages of noise.
Does the table of contents still work?
Yes. Contents entries, cross-references and footnote links become real PDF links that jump to the right page, and every chapter appears in the PDF's bookmark sidebar — even in old MOBI books that have no real headings, because the book's own contents list is used to find each chapter title.
Is my book uploaded?
The Kindle file is unpacked and assembled in your browser; the assembled book is then sent to the rendering engine over an encrypted connection, converted, and deleted the moment your PDF is made. If the engine is ever unreachable, everything happens in your browser instead and the tool tells you so.
MOBI, AZW, AZW3, KFX — which ones work?
MOBI, AZW, PRC and AZW3 (KF8) all work, including "combo" files that carry both layouts, in which case the newer one is used. KFX, Amazon's latest format, only opens in the Kindle app — download the book as AZW3 or MOBI instead.
Does it keep the cover and pictures?
Yes. The cover becomes the first page, and every illustration is kept at its original quality, scaled to fit the page.
Does it keep the book's design?
Yes. AZW3 books carry stylesheets and often embedded fonts, the same way EPUB books do, and both are applied — headings, drop caps, indents and typefaces come out as the publisher designed them.
Good to know: DRM-protected and KFX books cannot be opened by any converter. If the rendering engine is unreachable, the browser fallback keeps chapters, text and pictures but simplifies the book's stylesheet and drops clickable links.
