Frequently asked questions
Will the slides be editable?
Yes — that is the point. Rather than pasting a picture of each page, the text is separated from the artwork and placed as real text boxes, so you can retype, restyle and move things.
Why is the background a picture?
Because PDF artwork is vector drawing instructions with no equivalent in PowerPoint shapes. Rasterising the artwork keeps the page looking right; keeping the text separate keeps it editable. That combination is the honest best of both.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Everything is read and rebuilt in your browser.
What slide size do I get?
The PDF page size, so a landscape PDF gives landscape slides and nothing is cropped.
Can I convert a scanned PDF?
You will get the scan as the slide artwork but no editable text, because there is none. Run OCR PDF first if you need the words.
Good to know: Page artwork becomes a raster picture, so zooming far into a slide shows pixels where the PDF had vectors. Text boxes are per line rather than per paragraph, which keeps positions exact but means editing a paragraph means editing several boxes.
