Frequently asked questions
How can a PDF table become a spreadsheet at all?
A PDF has no concept of a table — only characters at coordinates. The grid is rebuilt: text sharing a baseline becomes a row, and the left edges of text across the whole page are clustered into columns, so a cell that is empty in one row still holds its place in the others.
How accurate is it?
Very good on clean, ruled tables with consistent columns. It struggles with merged cells, wrapped text inside a cell, and columns that drift across the page — all of which are genuinely ambiguous without knowing what the table means. Check the result before relying on it.
Do numbers stay numbers?
Yes. Anything that reads as a number is written as a numeric cell, so totals and formulas work immediately rather than treating everything as text.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Every page is read in your browser.
What about a scanned PDF?
There is no text to extract from a scan. Run OCR PDF first, then convert.
Good to know: Merged cells, multi-line cells and drifting columns are the hard cases and may need tidying afterwards. Formatting, colours, formulas and charts are not recreated — values are. Each PDF page becomes its own sheet rather than being stitched into one long table.
